Bambusa textilis ‘Fasca’ is a stunning clumping bamboo variety known for its bold stature and pest resistance. With dark green culms and leaves that provide striking contrast, Fasca forms a more open, airy clump than Gracilis bamboo. Within 5–7 years, a single clump can reach 6–8 meters tall and spread approximately 20% wider than Gracilis.

Fasca Impressive Growth Habit
Fasca’s vigorous growth rate allows it to establish quickly as a tall privacy screen or specimen accent. Its arching canes and open structure also make it well-suited for foundation planting or as an architectural element framing entrances. Regular pruning allows sculpting the clump into many artistic forms, from a lush thicket to a minimalist display highlighting individual culms.
Superior Hardiness Fasca Bamboo
Unlike Gracilis bamboo, Fasca boasts resistance to common pests like spider mites and mealybugs, reducing maintenance needs. It also tolerates a wider range of conditions, withstanding temperatures down to -5°C without protection. Establish plants in full sun for maximum vigour, providing afternoon shade in hot climates to protect foliage from scorch.
Fasca Bamboo Care Recommendations
Amend planting beds with high-quality compost or aged manure to improve soil structure and boost growth. Water regularly throughout the first summer as the extensive root system develops to establish deep watering patterns. Beyond establishment, Fasca is very low-maintenance and will reliably thrive with minimal care inputs year after year.
Check Our Bamboo Varieties
At Red Cloud Bamboo, we offer both clumping and running bamboo varieties suitable for a variety of landscaping needs. Clumping bamboos grow in dense clusters and are contained within the root zone, making them a great option for smaller gardens and containers. They require less maintenance while providing an attractive addition. Meanwhile, our running bamboos spread more rapidly both above and below ground. Without proper confinement, they can become invasive. However, running bamboos are well-suited for privacy screening when contained appropriately. Both bamboo types add an elegant natural element to landscapes when planted in optimised conditions.
